Most underrated midfielder in Europe? 🤔
Happy birthday, SSC Napoli legend Marek Hamšík! 🎉🎉🎉
His full name is Josef Dieter “Sepp” Maier. He was born in 28 February 1944. He is one of former professional German players of soccer with position as goalkeeper.
He was born in Metten, Bavaria. He spent the total of his proficient playing career at Bayern Munich, succeeding the Bundesliga Championship four times and the European Cup three times successively. Sepp” Maier played between 1966 and 1977 in an unremitting series of 422 matches, still a German national record.
Sepp Maier was one of the greatest goalkeepers as long as a period which saw a lot of great goalkeepers rise to prominence, especially in Europe. He was chosen West German soccer player of the year three times.
Sepp Maier’s goalkeeping aptitude was matched simply by his eccentricity, seeing that Maier was considered as a bit of a joker by many players and fans. This impression was augmented in one game which Bayern were dominating without difficulty, Maier turned his consideration to hunting a duck which had got stricken in the Olympia Stadion, rather than focus on the game.
Apart from his sense of humor, he was a really great keeper, who had the fate of winning nearly each competition he played in at least once, including a World Cup for West Germany in year 1974, a European Championship in 1972, the Intercontinental Cup in 1976, UEFA Cup Winners Cup in 1967, European Cup in 1974, 1975, 1976, and Bundesliga in 1969, 1972, 1973, 1974.
His greatest achievement came in 1974 when he assisted his national part to triumph in the Football World Cup 1974, World Cup final in his home city of Munich. In total he took part in his country 95 times.
Cricket is not just a sport in India, it is the country’s love and passion. Everyone loves to play Cricket throughout the country and India has produced many legendary batsmen including Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar. After the 1983 World Cup triumph, the Indian team has recently tasted a lot of success such as the 2011 World Cup. Apart from the International Cricket, BCCI conducts the biggest sporting franchise in the world, the Indian Premier League.
1983 World Cup
The greatest achievement for Indian Cricket is the success when Kapil Dev’s team defeated the mighty West Indies and lifted the 1983 World Cup. After winning the last two World Cups, West Indies were the favorites to lift the Cup once more, however the Indian team had other plans.
In the Final, as expected, Michael Holding and Joel Garner delivered an impressive bowling performance. The Indian team was back to pavilion at the score of just 183 runs. The Indian bowling exploited the conditions well and sent the strong West Indian batting lineup back to pavilion at 140 runs. The underdogs, India, defeated the invincible West Indian team, surprising everyone.
2011 World Cup
Cricket India lifted the Cup for the 2nd time in history, a feat only the West Indies and Australia had achieved earlier. On familiar pitch conditions, the Indian batting looked impregnable even against strong bowling attacks. The Indian team defeated Sri Lanka in the Final by 6 wickets, and took home the Cup.
Leading Run Scorer and Most Hundreds – Sachin Tendulkar
Sachin Tendulkar is arguably one of the greatest batsmen India has produced, and is even compared to the great Don Bradman. His statistics seem unreal, as he has the record of scoring 51 hundreds in Tests, and making 49 hundred in the ODIs. He is the only batsman in the history to have made a combined total of 100 centuries in both the formats. Not only this, he is highest run scorer in both ODIs and Test matches, with 18,246 and 15,921 runs.
Maximum Double Hundreds
All the batsmen who have made double centuries in ODIs belong to India. Sachin Tendulkar made the first double century of Cricket history in just 147 balls against South Africa. In 2012, Virender Sehwag smashed 219 of just 140 balls against West Indies. Finally, Rohit Sharma’s 209 against Australia was the third double century in the history of the sport.
The Big 3
In the beginning of 2014, India along with Australia and England, proposed a restructuring of the ICC hierarchy. The “Big Three” have now officially become the major stakeholders of the World Cricket. Many boards accepted the proposal due to promises of increased revenue sharing by ICC. Even though Pakistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka originally opposed this proposal, they are all onboard now due to immense foreign pressure. This gives considerable power to India, Australia and England Cricket boards. India has rights to most of the revenues, as other teams will enjoy more freedom in tournament participation.
Retro tracksuit tops really are a cool way to cheer your team on. Come on, let us face the facts, unless you have the body of Adonis you are not going to look so good in a replica shirt, even when you buy a shirt three sizes larger than you would normally do, which is the usual requisite.
By all means play football in a replica shirt, but when you are hanging out with the lads, then you have to go retro and these tracksuits can look even cooler than a vintage football shirt does.
It is World Cup year and not long until we meet the United States on Saturday June 12, 2010, in the Group C opener. What better way to cheer the lads on than in an England retro tracksuit top.
Below are two England retro tracksuit tops that you should definitely have a look at. Both are from another era and commemorate two sides that did us proud in football’s biggest tournament.
England 1986 World Cup Tracktop
This England retro tracksuit top, which is manufactured by Umbro, is the one that was worn by the players in the 1986 World Cup Finals, in Mexico. For England, this was a tournament of what might have been, but one thing is for certain, the boys did us proud and you can definitely wear these England tops with pride.
This was the tournament that centred around two goals by Diego Maradona; one of the greatest goals ever scored and the infamous “Hand of God”. If it had not been for those two moments by the Argentinean genius, then England may well have won their second World Cup. It was not to be, but at least England striker, Gary Lineker, finished the tournament as leading scorer with 6 goals, winning the golden boot award.
The England 1986 World Cup tracktop is a wonderful looking retro tracksuit top, with a navy blue back and a white front that has an interesting red and navy blue design.
England 1966 Jacket
This is another England top with a classic design that is going to look just great when you cheer the boys on this summer. Also manufactured by Umbro, this is a replica of the actual jacket worn by the manager, Sir Alf Ramsey, in England’s 1966 World Cup triumph.
The England 1966 jacket is royal blue, with red, white and blue trims on the cuffs, collars and the bottom of the jacket. This England retro jacket is finished off with a wonderful golden England shield.

A winger is a player that operates from the wings during a football match. There are two classes of wingers which include left winger and right winger.
A football team cannot do without wingers because if the defence is so tight for the strikers to penetrate the wingers can turn things around by either getting the goals or supplying the crosses from the flanks that could result in goals.
The only thing about the crosses from the wingers is that the crosses should be so accurate that the opponents will not make mess of them by being stronger in the air than the team. That is to say that crosses can only help a team to win a match if the team players are good in aerial battle and they can head the ball on target.
A team that has tall players is often at an advantage when it comes to crosses from the wingers. This is why it is good for a team to have tall strikers that can use their head very well. Also, it is good for an opposing team to have tall defenders that can use their head very well.
One unique quality of a good winger is speed. A winger that has speed can send an opposing team to the cleaners with his or her mesmerizing runs with the ball.
Christiano Ronaldo of Portuguese national team and Manchester United of England is one player that I cherish so much as a winger. He runs like a cheetah up and down the flanks.
A winger could be short or tall but he or she cannot afford to lack speed. So, the greatest quality, among other qualities, of a winger is speed. A winger should also be able to cross the ball very well.
